3 "gruesome, page turning, don't know when to stop" stars !!! This is my first Slaughter novel and I have to say that I feel pretty mixed about it. Aspects of this book were really excellent. Ms. Slaughter has a way of building up a story to a harsh crescendo with many interesting and somewhat believable characters that collide in a very dysfunctional and bloody mess. I could not help but continue this book despite the very intense violence and hopelessness that permeates much of this

When Karin Slaughter came to my town to sign books last month I realised I had never read any of her books and with all those people standing in line I knew I'd better find out what she was all about. Wow!!!! I only wish I could give this book "Triptych" 6 stars as in my opinion this is one hell of a story and definitely my type of book! This is a no holes barred book that is gritty, gruesome, highly addictive and an absolute page turner that I totally devoured in a couple of days. If you are particularly offended by vicious violence or the world of seedy prostitution then this book may not be for you but I thought Karin captured it all perfectly, especially John's time in prison which I was
