Narration Concering Books Psalms (Bible #19)

Okay, so I'll be honest, I didn't actually read every single Psalm, but selected the ones that seemed most appealing. Psalms does bring back a strong childhood memory for me though. While I was going to church, the lady who taught us children separately from the adults part way through the church service, got all us children who were old enough, to learn Psalms 23 (The Lord Our Shepherd) off by heart. Once we felt ready, we each had to stand up and say it out loud to the rest of the church goers. I remember being so nervous, as I was very shy, but also proud of myself for facing my own fear and achieving it.

Piece Out Of Books Psalms (Bible #19)
This wonderful little psalter was given to me by the Dean of Grafton; he caught me deliberating on whether or not to steal it from where it lay languishing at the back of the cathedral (I was actually going to swap it for a spanking edition of the BCP with included hymnal) but I thought better of it and he caught me walking away in confusion and him asking what the matter was I told him and he gave me the psalter. It is written in Scottish sounding verse with in that wonderful bright, hard

Monotonous claptrap

Highly RecommendedThis transaction is on par with The Psalter According to the Seventy from Holy Trinity Monastery. I would characterize this as less liturgical and more devotional. It is imminently suited for personal and family worship. The Translators preface reveals the deep love he had both for the text and even more for the Author of the text. Im so used to the HTM translation (after two decades of use) that it is difficult to think of using another translation but if I were to do so

Freaking gold.If I say any more I'll end up writing an essay, and I don't have time for that.

I'm not sure why I took so long to finish reading the Psalms, but maybe it's because the beauty of poetry requires time and focus to be appreciated. Ancient Hebrew poetry is lovely, even when translated into English. Rhyming thoughts and unique expressions create poetic emotion in English. I do wish I could read the Acrostic Psalms (e.g. Psalm 119) in the original Hebrew. I can't fully appreciate the special effort put into them or notice the beautiful symmetry. The five books of Psalms

Didn't actually read this specific translation but I couldn't find any other one on goodreads. Im so behind on my book challenge *sobs*

I really enjoyed how the Chronological Bible reading interspersed the Psalms throughout the other books. I really highlighted the various authors and time periods of the different Psalms. And also it helped highlight individual Psalms versus the entire book as a whole.(ebook with kindle dictation)
