Chronicle To Books October Breezes (October Breezes #1)
Skye Williams knows everything there is to know about mistrust: Dad skipped out when she was five. And now Warren Jacobs tries to sweep her Mom off her feet. But Warren's not the only concern rocking Skye's world. Devin Abbott, a guy she's known since kindergarten, has changed. He's become a tall, broad-shouldered guy she might date-if he wasn't her best friend. Skye swears there's nothing between them, but everyone else thinks differently. Devin doesn't act the way he used to, especially when Kellin Morgan, senior quarterback, asks Skye out. Flattered, she accepts, and, Devin sulls up-and he isn't the only one. Kellin's best friend, Tyler Rutherford, gets bent out of shape, too, as he's always wanted Skye for himself. When Kellin and Skye attend one of Tyler's famous parties, neither senses the impending disaster that will change not only her life but also that of everyone who loves her.Present Books As October Breezes (October Breezes #1)

What to say? This book certainly had some subject matter that will definitely touch a nerve with readers. I don't want to give away the story so I'll try to make this as spoiler free as I can. I started out the book not minding Skye. She was obnoxious as some teenagers are but at first I could understand her fears with Warren dating her Mom since her read Dad left when she was younger. Once I got into the story I found myself wanting to slap her for being so stubborn, but at the same time I~ 3 stars ~This book is one of the most emotional books I have read in a while. The topics are just so painful to read about. This book is just so emotional and heartbreaking and at times its almost hard to read on.This book is about a girl named Skye Williams who knows everything there is to know about mistrust as her dad bailed on her when she was a child. Now her mom has a new boyfriend called Warren Jacobs and things look to be getting serious quite fast. Skye has a hard time trusting people
When I first read the summary in goodread I thought it'd be something normal about high school life and the struggles the main character had to go through. I never knew that it's be about a touchy subject. Mostly I'm okay with reading touchy subjects since most of them were usually in the past but when I read that it happened in the present I was shocked, angry and sad at the same time. When characters had tragic pasts I can always get over it but with this book I don't think I can. Hooley did
This book was a difficult read for me. It had subject matter that people have very strong opinions on and can be painful and angering to some readers. I had mixed feelings on this book. Most of the time I found myself annoyed to death with Skye, who wouldn't listen to anyone, pushed away everyone, and overall was extermly unlikable and annoying. She had so many chances with people that loved her to open up and share what had happend but she never did and I didn't understand why she would share
October Breezes by Maria Rachel Hooley had me conflicted. On one hand, it (and its sequel Summer Sunsets) was a great read. But on the other hand, it was pretty blatantly anti-abortion. Im not one of those gung-ho pro-choice peopleI really dont know what to think about abortion. The book is about a girl named Skye who gets unknowingly drunk (so naive, I know), raped and pregnant as a high school sophomore. If there were a poster child for pro-abortion advocates, it would be this case. But the
Well, well, well. Hasn't it been forever since I've written a review? I think so. I would sit her and write you all the reasons why I haven't written a review, BUUUUT. I'm not about that at the moment. SO! October Breezes. Honestly the cover of this book totally through me off on the book meter. I was so so so so so so so so so wrong about this book in all ways. I will tell you why in a series of numbers. Number One! Before reading the book I did not read the synopsis. Why? Because I honestly
